At the age of 11, my first notable art lessons were at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts where I met Arthur Lismer (Group of Seven) who ran the Montreal Children’s Centre there. He left me with a lifelong, vivid memory of his presence and sketching ability and the desire to learn more to grow in my artistic ability.
I am not trying to express my ideas about a particular scene or subject, instead, I paint to offer the viewer an opportunity to enjoy and experience the subject matter in their own way. I work in oil paints with brush and painting knives and dabble in coloured pencil and oil pastels.
